10 frat members nabbed in Cavite after deadly hazing

MANILA - Police arrested 10 fraternity members after their new recruit died after a hazing session in Alfonso town, Cavite province on Tuesday night.

Inspector Christopher Olaso, Alfonso town police chief, said Elvis Sinalua, 21, died due to severe hazing wounds in his thighs and body.

Olaso said three members of a local fraternity chapter of Scout Royal Brotherhood (SRB) have been arrested and 8 others, including a minor, have surrendered to authorities.

He said another recruit identified as Criseno Ligaya was in critical condition at the UMG Hospital in the province.

Police were still hunting down 5 more SRB members identified only through their aliases NIkay, RJ, Dominic, Black and Snow, who are residents of Alfonso and Indang towns.

Olaso said charges for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law are being readied against the frat members.
